They loved fearlessly & gave generously (and they knew how to backcomb like a boss!) People came from all over town just to spend the day there. I knew from early on that beauty came from within, and that we each have a unique way of expressing it. Because of that background, makeup became a second language and I made a career of it. Right out of high school I went to beauty school -- never knowing where it would take me.
One thing I noticed was that small town beauty parlors were becoming a thing of the past, where women would gather, tell stories, and create friendships all in that tiny little beauty shop. So I set out to change that. In 2014 I opened BOMA, a cozy skincare and makeup studio in the heart of Birmingham, AL, where I get to do what I love: facial treatments & makeup lessons with a small-town feel.
In my explorer's heart, I started dreaming about what was next, and God spoke to meto pioneer again. This year looks like telling more stories, creating more friendships, all the while using a curling iron & an eyeliner pencil.
