Lord ‘A Mercy, did somebody say Winter!??

70/30 is usually my rule for eating well, not the weather forecast from one day to the next! But I have to say, it’s a welcome change for Alabama! The heat this summer has been killer and as weird as it was pulling out my big fuzzy sweaters, I was READY! This go round it straight up put me in the mood for Holiday decor and breaking out the Christmas music. Usually I’m the girl petitioning for every Holiday to get its on special attention, but this time I fell face forward into a straight up decorating frenzy this week and baking like tomorrow is Christmas Eve!

I don’t know what it is about this year, but I’m feelin’ it… Are y’all?!

FUN FACT:

I’ve mentioned being the only odd ball in my family, and that I’m outnumbered by red-heads, but my sister used to tease my about my “Christmas morning face” when we were kids. (she still does actually) You know, a toe-head blonde with blonde eyelashes and blonde brows, excited as could be on Christmas morning, all starry-eyed & puffy, must have looked pretty funny to her. She still teases me that she can’t wait for my husband to experience my morning face… SISTERS!

3 things that make it feel like Christmas to me…

Family Time – I love curling up on the sofa with family and a warm fire more than I like bread… and that’s a lot! I’ve got nieces and nephews from 4 to 21 years old. And each one is so unique! Squeezing in that sweet intimate time with the people that mean so much to me is especially important at the holidays. The Clampets, as I like to refer to them, are some of the best people on the planet!

Handmade Crafts – Gosh, as much as I love my family, i love making things just as much. This year it’s wreaths. I love finding my own style and making them for others, so my little home has been filled with wood chips and cedar branches all week long. I don’t know how I’ll ever clean up the hot glue and twigs from my rugs. And it’s only the beginning!

Baking – Lastly but not least, I would not venture to say I’m any kind of an amazing baker… but I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve. My Granny Bunn, as we liked to call her, always had Peach Cobbler at every occasion. SHE, like myself, wasn’t the Chef of all Chefs, but what she made was always top notch. When she left us for Heaven, I got the role of resident peach cobbler maker… And it took me a time or 20, but I finally make it just like she did. Oooooey gooooey and with lots of love! It’s my favorite treat at any party!

This year a favorite treat is gonna be this fun sweater I’m wearing here from Wooden Ships Knits. It might be the most comfortable one I’ve ever put on! It’s flowy and warm… and the sleeves hang just long enough to cover your hands, Hallelujah! Plus, they’re ethically produced and hand crafted for every order, not mass produced. This company is all about doing good — seriously, you should check them out! A great sweater and a great cause always fuels me… And the bonus of a discount helps too! Use this code to snag a little something special. This adorable sweater or something else on their site may send you over the edge like it did me! Their story is a good one. and the sweaters are made with great care. But don’t just trust me, check ’em out here! And if you like, make a purchase by using this link!
